How often should you change your air filter?
By RemindViaText.
The short answer
For a typical home, every 90 days is a solid default. Homes with pets, dust from work, or someone with allergies often need 30–60 days. Cheap 1-inch filters clog faster than thicker media filters.
Look at the filter, not just the calendar
If the pleats are gray, replace it even if the interval is early. If it still looks clean at 90 days, you can stretch a little — but do not wait until airflow drops. Write the size on a reminder so you are not guessing at the hardware store.
Make the interval automatic
A repeating text on a 3-month cadence is enough for most people. Set it once, snooze if you already changed it, and complete it when you skip a house.
