Replace the detector batteries
The chirp at 2am is a design failure. A scheduled text in spring and fall is quieter and more likely to happen in daylight.
Twice a year
A common habit is clocks-change weekend. Set a reminder every 6 months. Put “smoke + CO, all floors” in the message so you do not stop at the hallway.
Alarms that are hardwired
Hardwired units still have backup batteries. The reminder is the same. If a unit is over 10 years old, the message can say to replace the whole alarm.
