How often should you change your car oil?

Read the manual, then pick a proxy
Many newer cars are 7,500–10,000 miles on synthetic oil. Older cars and severe driving (short trips, extreme heat) want sooner. If you never reset the oil-life monitor, a 6-month text is a decent proxy for mixed commuting.
The sticker is in the wrong place
You see it when you are already driving. A text at home is when you can actually book a shop. Put oil grade in the message if you DIY.
